OCR research of the briefs. 1)

I have looked through the OCR sheets on the first 12 briefs. I have crossed out which ones I really did not want to do after doing the research of them individually.

For my briefs, I have chosen to look at brief 1 and 2 and 10.

Brief 1.
  • Over the past few weeks I had been doing work which was pretty similar to this music video based on the location of where it was shot and the camera angles used. Another thing which I had to take into account was the type of music I wanted to do for which in this case is Pop music. I chose this simply because its location is simple but effective. The whole music video is based inside a house with natural light. If i was to have to make my own music video in this style then it would be a very easy location to get a-hold of.
  • The camera angles used are very basic and vary from a head shot, a close up and a long range shot from a short distance which again is easy to do as its not completely advanced and complicated when it came down to the angles. The young girl dancer is the main focus of the video and this is because she's the only person that stars in this music clip.
  • Lastly, the costumes and props used were very simple. The young girl was dressed in a plain leotard which are easy to get a hold of and the props used were those that were already in the house such as the chair and table and then the curtains which she held on to.

Another clip I have also added is Taylor Swifts song 'Shake it off". This is a good example for this brief as it would be very easy to recreate. The only thing is, I need many many dancers. This can easily be done by getting a group of dancers together from my school. Another thing which requires quite a bit of time is all the outfits used. Many of the outfits worn, people would already own, maybe just not the feathered leotard and the silver tracksuit worn by the lad dancer.

5. Our short movie trailer

Things we did well:

-First of all, the whole of our group got on well and there was never any negativity to one another wen giving opinions on how to improve the short trailer. This was also good when it came to deciding what roles to take upon our selves and encouraging one another I take it by telling that person what useful skills they brought to the group.

-With the short period of time allocated, we used it efficiently to ensure we finished the trailer to it's deadline day. We done this by simple quick planning and how well we managed our time so on the day, made sure we were all free to produce the short trailer.

Things to change and improve on for the future:

-For the main task, we are going to need to film in more than one place. We will do this though by reasearching and finding more information out about our task we choose to do. This will help make our decision on the places we need to film in/at.
-We should of really, recorded some speech to put over or include in the trailer as its quite plain and you'd have to of watched the trailer 'lucy' to understand what was going on.

-Lastly, our group as a whole could just have more practice and rehearsal time with one another and the more practice then the more professional it would look.

4. Editing - Using iMovie - Effects - Music - Sound effects etc

When editing the many shots that we took, we used a programme called I-movie which was already installed onto the I-mac computers that our group and class used. This programme enabled us to merge out shots together smoothly and professionally. This programme allows you to add many different things to your shots from sound effects, music, text ect. This programme also allowed us to cut short pieces out of the shots.

As a group, we worked through the editing together. We done this by circling around a computer to help one another for those who weren't so familiar to the programme. We all gave our own opinions on how to make the shot better and each one of us listened to one another in the group when it came to this. Each one of us have good editing skills so this was a good skill to have as a group when it came down to the editing side of things.

3. Filming: Location - Actors -Props- Camera angles etc

Location:We tried to make our location where we filmed as real to the film "lucy" as possible. We only had a short time limit on the task that we had to complete so had to think of a place to film sharply so we chose to film inside which meant it was not a busy and crowded area and we did not have people walking through and around where and what we needed to film. An example of this is, one of our shots needed to have an opening and closing door so this room with the door had to be kept free enabling us to film.

Camera angles: seen as it was many of our first times back on the professional cameras in a while, it took us individually a few shots/minutes to understand the cameras again which we all quickly figured out. Many on the shots, we filmed 3-4 times just to make sure we had that perfect shot ensuring and that there were no mistakes within them. Having many shots also enabled us to have a large variety to choose from when it came to editing and then to our final and finished clip,

Props: We simply used 2 main props. The first being a bandage and the second being a jacket. The bandage used was just a spare white tea towel from the kitchen and kayleigh provided us with the jacket used.

2. story board

When drawing our story board we had to decide who was going to draw the pictures. None of us are perfect artists but we wanted to make the pictures as clear as possible and easily understandable so chose Chloe Francom to draw ours as she is the best artist out of the four of us. The idea of the story board was to pick out scenes in the trailer "lucy" and enable us to recreate them in our version. Due to the time limit, we hadn't actually managed to act out every single frame from our story board. We chose the first 12 shots of the trailer and all in all this lasted about 30 seconds altogether.

Task 1- deciding the roles within our group

Our group chose to focus on the film trailer released earlier this year "lucy" and to recreate the first 30 seconds or so of the trailer. I based my decision of my role in the group on what my strength was in the group compared to the other peoples strengths. For example, I do a lot of ICT work which results in me having good editing skills. In our group though, many of us performed different roles throughout. An example of this was Chloe francom in our group started out as the main character being the actress but later recognised this position was not right for her so we had another volunteer within the group. This person had done much drama before in her past so suited this role a whole lot better.

Our group also had someone in charge of the props and costumes used throughout so the bandage and jacket used was planned to be brought by a specific person. We also had different people play the role of the director as everyone in our group has good leadership skills and thought it was right to give and let everyone within have an input and say.
